1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and encrypted password. OAuth providers (Google, Facebook) share your basic profile info.

Uploaded Files: Subtitle files you upload for translation are stored on our servers or cloud storage for translation and access from History. You can delete a job and its associated files from History.

Usage Data: We track translation volume (lines translated per month) to enforce usage limits. When enabled, we collect first-party page and feature event counts without analytics cookies, fingerprinting, subtitle text or filenames. Client-side collection respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Operational job records are associated with your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve our subtitle translation service
• To authenticate you and manage your account
• To send transactional emails (password reset, account verification)
• To prevent abuse and enforce rate limits
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the product

3. Data Storage & Retention

Uploaded subtitle files and results are stored to provide translation and access from History. You can delete a job and its associated files from History. Contact service@subtitletranslator.org to request deletion of account data.

Account data is retained for the lifetime of your account. Upon account deletion request, all personal data is removed within 30 days.

4. Third-Party Services

• Anthropic / OpenAI / DeepSeek: Used for AI translation. Subtitle text is sent to these services for translation and returned results are stored in your account.
• Google OAuth: Used for sign-in. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare R2: File storage. Files are encrypted at rest.
• Supabase: Database hosting for user accounts and translation records.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Uploaded files are stored in isolated cloud storage and not accessible to other users. We implement rate limiting and monitoring to prevent unauthorized access.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export your translation history
• Opt out of non-essential communications

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (session tokens) and CSRF protection. Product analytics does not set analytics cookies. Essential authentication cookies remain necessary for your account.

8. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via email or a notice on our website. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
